Rosa E. Ries

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Anthony N. Ries Sr.

Born to German parents in Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of Wilhelm and Maria Gruber Mayer.

Rosa was raised in Yugoslavia, graduated from the University of Graz, Austria with a PhD, and then immigrated to the United States in 1951, where she attended Marywood College in Scranton on a scholarship. After graduating, she began working in Philadelphia for the American Society for Testing and Materials. She remained with them until she was married in 1955. She then worked in her husband’s medical practice in Olney, and with Jeanes Hospital in the 1990’s.

Rosa enjoyed reading, music, needlepoint, gardening, baking and especially spending time with her family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren who will greatly miss her.

Loving mother of Dorothea Zimmerman and her husband Mark of Jamison, Hildegarde Bothwell and her husband Dr. William of Chalfont, Anthony N. Ries Jr. and his wife Kari of Washington Crossing, PA. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Berta Mayer. Proud grandmother “Oma” to Jessie, Eric, and Karl Zimmerman, William and Lydia Bothwell, Lilly and Marlena Ries and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral from 8:30 to 9:30AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (Route 202 and Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, and to her Funeral Mass, 10:00AM St. Jude Church, Chalfont. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham. Friends may call on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 6 to 9 PM, at the Funeral Home.
