Clement Christian Gross, III "Chris", of Penndel, PA died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 69.
He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Marta B. Davidson Gross.
Born in Philadelphia, Chris was the son of the late Clement C. Gross, II and Grace H. Yoho Gross and brother of the late Stephen Gross.
Chris proudly served his country with the Marine Corps throughout his life and most importantly defending freedom during the Vietnam Conflict. His USMC love and brotherhood was distilled in him from 1960 through his final days. As he said "Death smiles at everyone, Marines smile back".
His passion for life and the Marines could be felt through every person he met and the community he lived. His favorite times were those spent fishing at the beach with his sons, planting his beautiful gardens, and most of all his dogs. We express our sincere appreciation for all those who honked, waved, and spent time with him this past summer as he sat at the bottom of our drive way in his wheel chair, it truly helped keep his positive outlook.
He will be sorely missed by everyone who has come to know and love him for the man he was and for the freedom he fought to protect.
We would like to especially thank his immediate family and all his friends for the time spent with him the past two weeks, as it kept that smile on his face, and most especially the gentlemen from the Jesse W. Soby American Legion Post 148 in Langhorne.
In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by his two sons; Clement C. Gross, IV and his wife Carrie of Exton, PA and Timothy J. Gross of New York, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 8:30AM until his Funeral Service 10:00AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.
His interment will follow with Military Honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory can be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250.
