Daniel Thomas Shay, our beloved father passed away the evening of July 18th after a wonderful life filled with love and compassion for everyone. He will be missed by his children, Margaret Jolly or Mickey as he liked to call her and her husband Robert whom he admired, his devoted son George, who more than surpassed his father’s expectations as a man, a son and a father, and his wife Holly who always kept him amazed. Also his daughter-in-law Jean Shay Hritz, whose bravery he appreciated. He joins his wife Kathryn, his sisters Joanna and Bertha and his son Daniel, whom he has missed greatly. He leaves his legacy with all his wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, Robert J. Jolly Jr., his wife Christina and their four children, Staff Sgt. Jonathan Shay, his wife Rachel and their three children, Peter Shay, his wife Eileen and two children, Dr. Travis Shay and his wife Ni and Brandie Raymond and her husband David and their two children.

Our father was a family man; he enjoyed watching his family grow and was proud of all of their accomplishments. There was nothing ordinary about our dad. He was employed at Penn Fruit Company and PA Liquor Control Board before retiring to help take care of his grandchildren.

He proudly served his country during wartime aboard the USS Saratoga and loved to tell his grandchildren and anyone who would listen stories about life on ship.

He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Bede Church. His religion meant everything to him, his love of life and his belief in our Lord, eases the pain of his absence from our family.

We thank the staff at Attleboro Nursing Home in Langhorne for the exemplary care of our father.

There will be no viewing; we ask that you remember him as you knew him in life.
