William G. McBride

William G. McBride, 85, of New Hope, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024. He was the husband to Janice M. Cancellieri  McBride for 11 years.

Born September 16, 1938 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Ann Kravitz McBride.

Bill attended North Catholic High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and earned his diploma.   From 1958-1964 he served his country as a U.S. Marine and this instilled in him a sense of pride in purpose that he carried through the rest of his life.  After he returned to the civilian world in 1964 he met Mary E. McBride, they married in 1972, and became a family with three daughters and a son.  For his entire career, Bill worked as a purchasing agent for Hull Corporation in Hatboro, PA, where he purchased steel and supported his family.  When his wife fell ill, he became not only a husband but a caregiver, diligently attending to her needs until her death in 2010.  In retirement, he became a bus driver for special needs children in the Central Bucks School District.  There he met Janice, they married, and for 11 years shared a life together, filled with friends, family, and many grandchildren.

Along with his wife Janice, Bill is survived by his children, Dr. William C. McBride of Downingtown, Elisabeth Ridgely and her husband Steven of Telford, Kathleen D. McDonald and her husband Joseph of Jamison, Patricia Swartz of Warrington, Kellie Lawlor of Furlong, Jimmy Cunningham of Middle Island, NY; grandchildren, Stephen, Kurt, Cole, Allison, Emily, Michael, Kaitlyn, Erin, Nyah, Declan, and Ronan. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Mary McBride and his sister Joan Stevenson.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their condolences on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E.
