Mildred M. Macfarlan (Taylor)

Our community sadly lost an important member: Mildred “Millie” Mary Macfarlan, 84, of Holland, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 7th, 2024.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 23rd, to Eriven J. Taylor and Florence A. (Wilhelm) Taylor. Millie married the love of her life, Alan E. Macfarlan, in 1959, a marriage that lasted 58 years, and is survived by their three children: Alan Macfarlan and his wife Cathy, Thomas Macfarlan and his wife Dora, and Trish Coady and her husband Ed.

She was a “wild and crazy grandmom” to 10 grandchildren: Kristy (Josh), Daniel (Jennifer), Mandie (Jon), Thomas Jr., Guenevere (Dallas), Jeff, Tonya (Patrick), Jen (Lou), Tara, and Andrew; and a loving great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren: Savannah, Austin, Mitchell, Samuel, Connor, Noah, Daisy, Lake, Felicity, and Olivia. She is predeceased by her husband, Alan E. Macfarlan, and siblings Thomas A. Taylor and Barbara A. Krier.

Millie was the heart and soul of Holland Village, her home since 2009. You could find her playing cards any night of the week, and would always feel at home passing by her delightfully decorated door. She volunteered and led multiple committees, but most importantly she organized – and very often won – Big BINGO every month. Millie made many dear friends and memories along the way and will be sorely missed.

Her family lovingly remembers Millie’s luck at the card table and the casino, her love of BINGO, cruises, camping, and cats, and especially her home grown blueberry pies.

To honor Millie’s memory, relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on April 28th at 10:30 a.m. in the Kelly Auditorium at Holland Village, 280 Middle Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright, cheerful colors in remembrance of Millie.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests condolences be made in the form of donations in Millie’s memory to The Bridge Clinic (www.thebridgeclinic.org), a nonprofit veterinary clinic serving Bucks County and Philadelphia.
