My thoughts are with Ramesh’s family and friends. I worked with Ramesh when he was the CFO of the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a true professional and brought a business perspective to the financial management of the FAA. He was also a great person and someone who saw potential in his employees and helped them grow into leaders. I truly enjoyed working with him and will be forever grateful for what he did for me.

I send my deepest condolences to the entire Punwani family. Ramesh and I worked together during his time at FAA and, in addition to our manager/employee relationship, we became fast friends. He was the ultimate professional, and totally devoted to his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and I watched them grow up through the pictures Ramesh would bring into the office, and through the photo attachments to the emails we exchanged after we both retired. I'm fortunate to have had Ramesh's support and expert guidance in the workplace, and more fortunate to have had him as a friend. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Dear Chandra, Annisha and Anjali:

Needless to say, I am very saddened by the news re Ramesh and understand your pain.

As you may know, Ramesh and I were best friends throughout our 4 years at IIT, a year at Cornell, and several years at Sun Oil Company.

It is difficult to think of any words of comfort that may ease your sorrow, but I would like you to know that I empathize with you. Here is an old American Indian proverb:

“In the journey of life, some leave a mark so deep that it is very hard to forget them. May the loving memories bring you strength, comfort and peace.”

With deepest condolences
--- Dilip

I am Bansi Bharwani and a classmate of Ramesh at IIT Bombay. His hostel room was near me, and we talked with each other quite often. Many years after graduation, when I was in Rochester, NY, he was passing through, and we met and caught up with what was going in on our lives. I remember that get together very well. It is indeed a big loss to lose a classmate. Please accept my deepest condolences. May his soul rest in peace. He will be greatly missed.

Ramesh Punwani was my batchmate at IIT Bombay. He was staying in the same wing as me in hostel 3. I remember him and Satish Khurana (another batchmate) always leaving the hostel at weekends to travel to their home in Bombay. He was reserved and gentleman. May his soul rest in peace.
