Donald "Bruce" Post Service Information

Donald "Bruce" Post, Jr., a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and generous benefactor to so many in his life, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his home in Pipersville, PA, surrounded by his beloved wife Carol of 58 years and his cherished family.

Born in Dover, NJ on November 4, 1945, Bruce was the son of the late Donald B. Post, Sr. and Doris Crater Post. He grew up on Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and fate intervened in kindergarten when he met his future wife, Carol L. Chew (Post). He grew up curious to learn and passionate about sports, ultimately becoming the captain of the Morris Hills Regional High School football team in Rockaway, NJ, and dating Carol, who was, appropriately enough, the cheerleader captain.  

Fueled by his drive and natural ability to solve problems, Bruce excelled at Rutgers University, earning his BS and MS in Civil Engineering. He enjoyed camaraderie as a brother of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and participating in ROTC, graduating as a Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers, and serving his country at the Pentagon and in Germany.

After serving with honor, Bruce embarked on a remarkable engineering career in the private sector. He honed his skills at prestigious engineering and construction firms, before his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Precast Systems, Inc. in 1981. True to his precise nature, Bruce and his team helped construct the very backbone of our region: bridges, tunnels, parking garages, and mass transit systems. Their expertise extended beyond, gracing national monuments in Washington, DC, the innovative Little Island off Manhattan, and other iconic destinations. Over nearly 35 years, Precast Systems flourished under his leadership, becoming one of the top specialty precast concrete producers in the mid-Atlantic region. In 2017, he ensured the company’s future by passing the torch to a new generation of owners.

Bruce was a remarkably generous man. His drive to provide for his family had him commuting nearly 200 miles each day to his own company so his family could enjoy a peaceful, idyllic life. Similarly, in more recent years, he generously helped elevate the lives of four generations of his family nearly simultaneously, providing a lovely home and care for his mother’s final years, helping his children start businesses and build lovely homes of their own, and ensuring his grandchildren received outstanding educations and enjoyed lifetime memory experiences.

Bruce loved to golf and enjoyed his time playing at Lookaway, his home course in Pennsylvania, and many of the great courses around the world. He assembled and passed many happy hours tinkering with his amazing 400 square foot model train layout, enjoyed reading history and watching his childhood favorite NY Giants and Yankees teams play, and went the extra mile in hosting beautiful family gatherings several times per year.

In addition to his loving wife, Bruce is survived by his two daughters, Dana Bryce Murray and her husband Thomas of Manhattan, MT and Christine Louden and her husband David of West Hartford, CT, his two sisters, Barbara Post of Brielle, NJ and Diane Schommer and her husband Paul of Visalia, CA. He is also survived by his three dear grandchildren; Emerson Murray, Samuel Louden and Alice Louden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Committal Service with Military Honors at 11:30am on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Please meet at the Administration Office at 11:15am.
