Jennifer Mejias Garrido

Jennifer Mejias Garrido of Glenside died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Friday, August 7, 2020 at her home.  She was 32.

Jennifer was the loving and devoted wife of Kirk A. Garrido and together they shared love, family, and life’s adventures since meeting in high school.

Born in Manatí, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of Angel and Sandra Mejias Maldonado of Dublin, PA.

Jenni spent the beginning of her life in Puerto Rico, which always held a special place in her heart, before eventually coming to Pennsylvania with her family in 1999.  She graduated from Pennridge High School in 2005 and would go on to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked for The Community at Rockhill.  Jenni later attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia where she studied Baking and Pastry before eventually going on to work for Doylestown Mennonite Church, where she and her family are members, as the church administrator.

The community of friends from Doylestown Mennonite really became like family and Jenni took great pride in her involvement in the church where she sang in the worship group.  She was also a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, prayer intercessor, and also one of the main organizers of both the church’s annual Community Day and youth soccer camp.  The many hats Jenni wore continued with her talent for knitting and crocheting, her love of fishing and her unique skill in crabbing, which she enjoyed doing on family summer vacations to Ocean City, MD.

Jenni had an acute awareness for the importance of helping those in need and was known to, even in the face of her own health challenges, continue to provide help to the homeless in the form of care packages, as well as volunteering at the Chelten Baptist Food Pantry in Dresher.

She truly had the biggest heart you could imagine, which also played a role in her innate ability to connect with people of all ages.  She spent a great deal of her time visiting with dear friends at the Souderton Mennonite Home, while making new ones in the process.

Most of all, Jenni beamed with the most pride when it came to her family, especially her children who she adored endlessly.

Inspiring, selfless, and kind are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to describing her and although Jenni’s loss will leave an enormous void for all who loved her, the world was truly a better place because she was in it.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Jennifer leaves behind her children, Alejandro and Juliano Garrido; her sisters, Sandinid Mejias (Obed Aviles) and Angela Mejias and countless extended family and friends both near and far.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and greet Jennifer’s family on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM until her Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Doylestown Mennonite Church, 590 N. Broad St., Doylestown, PA 18901 where face masks will be required as well as recognizing social distancing and limiting close contact.   A live stream of her service will also be available on this website just below the obituary text. Her interment will follow in the adjacent church cemetery.
