Frederick R. Shelp

Frederick R. Shelp passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.

Fred was the beloved husband to Patricia Ann Cowperthwait Shelp for 51 years.

Born in Scranton, PA, Fred was the loving son to the late Donald and Anne Beebe Shelp.

Fred was a devoted father to his three children, Steven, Mark, and Karen, along with their partners, June, Karrie, and Mark.

Fred was a forever faithful Philadelphia Eagles fan and had a successful career in car sales management for 40 years, becoming a great mentor and friend to so many.

Fred’s positivity was infectious. He was the life of the party and lit up every room he entered. He touched so many people’s lives, and he will be greatly missed. All of the wonderful memories made with Fred, will carry us through this painful, sad time.

Fred is also survived by his siblings, Donna Barrett and her husband Richard, Linda Johanson and her late husband, Brad, Peter Shelp and his wife Jill, and Tami Fidati and her late husband, Keith. He is proceeded in death by his sister, Debra Nuttall Gerstenberg.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred’s name may be made to Chandler Hall, 99 Barclay Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
