Virginia Scamuffo (Ott)

Virginia Scamuffo, longtime resident of North Wales, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 10, 2021. She was 85 years old.

Virginia, affectionately known as Ginny, was the loving wife of the late Paul Richard Scamuffo, Sr. The couple shared 44 years of marriage before Paul’s death in 2000.

Born in Philadelphia, Ginny was the daughter of the late Charles and Frieda (Tortelitoe) Ott, sister of the late Louise Pallozzi and Carol Linso, and sister-in-law of the late Nicholas Scamuffo, and his wife Marie.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Paul R. Scamuffo, Jr.

Ginny will be missed tremendously by her children, Bill Scamuffo and his wife Wendy, and Lynda MacDougall and her husband Bill; her grandchildren - Paul III, Nicole, Matthew and Benjamin. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Vince Pallozzi.

Ginny raised her family in Willow Grove, PA as a mother and homemaker. She spent many hours cheering for and encouraging her children in their numerous endeavours. If asked, she would say her biggest accomplishment was nurturing her children and helping them become the people they are today. She shared her great pride in her children and grandchildren’s achievements - both large and small - with all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. The most remarkable thing about Ginny was her ability to overcome major adversities throughout her life, and remain the happy and independent woman she was until her last breath. In some ways Ginny was able to see the world through the eyes of a child. She looked forward to Christmas morning each year just as much as her young grandson - and some years even more so - waking up at 4am to ensure she didn’t miss one minute of his holiday experience. These are the types of things that her children are so thankful for, and will never forget.

Welcoming others into her family was easy for Ginny. Whether offering guidance, some motherly comfort or a bowl of vegetable soup when you weren’t feeling well, she focused on making others happy. She loved her daughter-in-law and son-in-law as if they were children of her own - and was looking forward to doing the same with her grandchildren.

A loving and devoted woman, Ginny was not only considered “Mom-Mom” but a dear friend by all of her grandchildren. Spending countless hours on the telephone, sharing stories, and connecting with her family’s everyday life brought her tremendous joy. She will be remembered for her fun-loving personality, contagious laughter and gift of gab. Above all else, she cherished spending time with her family. Although the next chapter of life without Mom-Mom will be extremely difficult, her grandchildren will be able to call upon the endless special memories they shared with her.

A private prayer service will take place for Virginia’s family with burial following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of her great love for the stray cats in her neighborhood, memorial contributions may be made to Stray Cat Blues at PO Box 8 in Colmar, PA 18915 or at www.straycatblues.org/donate
