Betty Jane Blazewicz (Smith)

Betty Jane Blazewicz of Newtown, PA passed away peacefully at her home Monday night, February 15, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was 72.

Betty was the beloved wife of 50 years to James M. Blazewicz Sr.  In addition to her husband Jim, Betty Jane is survived by her loving and devoted children; James M. Blazewicz Jr. and his wife Maria of Barrington, RI and Jill Van Arsdale and her husband Duane of Washington Crossing, PA.  She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren: Zachary, Andrew, Makenzie, and Alexandra, her brother William Smith and his wife Joanne of Tinton Falls, NJ, and her Yorkie’s Rosie and Mr. Bentley.

Born in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Edna Zegelbrier Smith.  She was raised in South Plainfield and went to Douglass College in New Brunswick, NJ where she met her husband Jim.  They were married on June 28, 1970 and settled in Branchburg, NJ where they raised their 2 children, Jamie and Jill.  She was a devoted wife and mother always putting her family first.  During this time, she managed a dental practice for 20+ years in Bridgewater, NJ for Dr. James A Testa.  After retiring and moving to Bucks County, PA with her husband, Betty’s new focus became her grandchildren and her dogs.  She was never too busy to spend time with her grandkids, babysitting them when they were younger and participating in many activities with them as they grew up.   She would often be seen sitting on the sidelines watching and cheering them on while they participated in multiple sports.  They were her pride and joy and seeing them smile brought her the most happiness of all.  Betty also had a love for dogs and catered to them like they were family.  Her dogs never left her side.  Finally, she loved to garden, maintaining lovely flower beds, that always accentuated her house, which was also a place that she took great pride in through her home decorations and design skills.

Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to know her and been touched by her in their lives.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty’s memory to Home At Last Dog Rescue at https://homeatlastdogrescue.com/fund/  or via regular mail at PO Box 1341 North Wales, PA 19454. Please mention her name with your donation

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Betty due to the current conditions associated with Covid.
