Richard Donald Calverley

Richard D. Calverley Sr. of Richboro died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Saturday, February 20, 2021.  He was 80.

Richard was the beloved husband of 54 and half years to Barbara C. Stewart Calverley.

Born at home in North Willow Grove Richard was the son of the late Harold and Helen Jean Mars Calverley.

Richard was a proud veteran of the Army who served our Country during the Vietnam War.  He graduated in 1959 from Upper Moreland High School.  He was a lifelong master plumber who in retirement was always willing to lend his expertise to those in a plumbing emergency.  As a young child and well into adulthood, Richard enjoyed camping with family and friends and times spent in the Pocono Mountains and occasionally at the Jersey Shore.  He was an avid Phillies Fan, an aficionado of Big Band Music, Western Movies, the Lawrence Welk Show, and the classic shows that are on ME TV.  Richard was an accomplished self-taught horticulturist who enjoyed cultivating his garden and growing bounties of produce such as tomatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts, varieties of peppers and squash.  He was known by many as a man with a multitude of jokes who excelled at delivering the punchline so well that laughter was bound to follow.  He cherished time with his family and especially with his grandson who would in turn follow in his footsteps and serve our country in the Army.  Richard will be greatly missed, but loved and remembered eternally by everyone who has had the pleasure to have been in his life.

In addition to his beloved wife Barbara, Richard is survived by his loving and devoted children; Richard D. Calverley Jr. of Richboro and Sandra L. Calverley and her husband Alex Gill of Richboro.  He is also survived by his grandson Jonathan R. MacNamara and his wife Rachel, close family friend Robert T. Conlin, his sisters: Kathleen Hering, Rebecca L. McLaughlin, and Carol L. Carr, his brother Theodore Calverley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00PM  and on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10:00am until his Funeral Service 11:00AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.  His interment will follow with military Funeral Honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
