John W. Munz
John William Munz, formerly of Newtown, PA, died peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021 at his home with family at his side. He was 93.
The son of the late John and Marie (Fritz) Munz, John spent his early years in Philadelphia. He was the loving and devoted husband of Susan (Aemisegger) Munz, to whom he was married for 44 years.
John proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1946, where he worked as a switchboard operator in the South Pacific. Upon completion of his military service, John attended Drexel University where he earned an Engineering degree. He worked for many years alongside his father in the family construction business, ultimately taking over the business that he loved. He was a skilled carpenter and talented architect who built hundreds of homes in Philadelphia and surrounding communities. Additionally, he spent many weekends working on projects at his son’s homes, which will be wonderful lasting reminders of his incredible abilities and attention to detail. John was an avid skier and tennis player. New Life Christian was his home church, where he enjoyed Bible studies and working on set design for holiday ministries. He always had his Bible nearby and was proud to proclaim his commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John Munz. and his wife, Laura, Paul Munz, and his wife Beth, Kenneth Munz, and his wife Joan, William McGowan, and his wife Terri, and Andrew McGowan, and his wife Tracy. He is also survived by 11 beloved grandchildren, and sister Elsie Huber, and her husband Harry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Marion Bobbitt.
Services and interment will be private, with the Rev. Dr. Norman J. Leve, Jr. officiating.
