Phillip Stephen Houser Jr.

Phillip Stephen (Steve) Houser Jr. of Yardley, PA died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, March 19, 2021.  He was 68.

Steve was the beloved husband of Adriana Rangel-Houser and the late Colleen Huff Houser.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Phillip S. Houser, Sr. and Margaret Coleman Houser.

Steve defied the expectations of many (and even himself) when the itinerant rock musician graduated from the music department of Bucks County Community College in the early 70’s. He then built a successful music career, in partnership with his first wife, as a vocalist, keyboardist, and organist in his band Colleen & Company.  In typical Steve fashion, he changed direction one day deciding to build a career away from music, ultimately becoming a valued financial advisor with Lincoln Investment in a career that spanned over three decades.

Steve was known for his sincerity, generosity, kindness, integrity, compassion, creativity, and sense of humor. His charm and wit drew customers to Adriana’s craft booth and clients to his financial advising practice. His covers of Billy Joel songs always brought his family together around the piano. Steve’s love of good conversation and food made his home a popular gathering spot, even among his daughters’ teenage friends. While his food and music brought people together, his signature Houser family humor tended to result in as many groans as laughs. Steve found joy in serving others, whether it was perfecting the chocolate martini for his beloved Adrianita, guiding his employees and clients toward achieving their dreams, or driving his daughters all over the country to pursue their passions in sports and life. His contagious curiosity and ability to find humor even in the darkest moments will be missed.

In addition to his wife Adriana, Steve is survived by his loving daughters; Christie McKiernan (Michael) of Fremont, CA, Alyssa Wang (Charles) of Lima, Peru, and Alexis Houser of Philadelphia.  He is also survived by his brothers: Kevin, Brian (Nancy), and Denis (Linda), his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends who will all miss him dearly.

Steve’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 29th from 9:30am - 11:00am, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00am in Calvary Chapel, 13500 Philmont Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19116.

His interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery and everybody is invited.

The following of CDC guidelines on social distancing  and the wearing of masks is requested to be followed by everyone in attendance.

The funeral service will be to Honor God and celebrate the life and memory of Steve.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
