Clinton Cope Jr.

Clinton G. Cope Jr. of Hatfield, PA, beloved husband of nearly 50 years to Kristine Grabowski Cope, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. He was 77.

Clinton was born in Abington, the son of the late Clinton G., Sr. and Anna McFadden Cope. After graduating from St. Francis College with a degree in Biology and Chemistry in 1965, he went on to a career at Merck and Co. that spanned over 30 years. Longtime parishioners at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Clinton and Kristine volunteered their time for many years as CCD teachers. Clinton was also active in the Knights of Columbus, achieving the level of Fourth Degree Knight. He took great joy in sharing the word of God and led a dedicated life of service. Since his retirement in 1998 as a Senior Medical Data Coordinator, Clinton volunteered for over 15 years at Grandview Hospital driving visitors to and from their vehicles. Clinton was avid about his physical fitness and enjoyed participating in many local road races. In 2012, Clinton completed his first half marathon (the Philadelphia Half Marathon) at the age of 68. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens and meticulously maintaining his luscious green lawn. Most days, Clinton could be found doing what he loved most: spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Clinton will be greatly missed for his quiet kindness and generous spirit.

In addition to his wife Kristine, Clinton is survived by his three loving children: Clinton D. Cope and his wife Yelena of San Francisco, CA, Kevin Cope and his wife Sarah of Mill Valley, CA, and Elaina Krakauer and her husband Mark of Fort Washington, PA.  He is also survived by six adoring grandchildren and his sister Joanne Gollihur and her husband Robert.

Clinton’s family will receive friends on Wednesday. April 7, 2021 from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 100 Broad Street Hilltown, PA 18927.  His interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Covenant House (www.covenanthouse.org).
