While a consummate homemaker who took pride in her Thanksgiving Day meal and Christmas Eve gatherings on Marlboro Road, she was also involved in several family businesses and was the official bookkeeper for Ray O’Hara, Sr. News Agency. She worked from her home and always had a crib ready for the next grandchild to take a nap and share in afternoon tea. While Mabel enjoyed playing Gin Rummy with her grandchildren, it was also well known that she did not like to lose. Mabel and Ray enjoyed traveling and spent many happy years cruising with a close-knit group of friends in the newspaper business.
Mabel spent the last twelve years as a resident of Twining Village where she had a kind group of friends who ate dinner together and sat by the fireplace in the evening. Most recently she moved to assisted living at Twining and the family wishes to thank the staff for their kind and compassionate care during this most difficult pandemic period.
Due to the COVID pandemic, the services and internment will be private. Please keep Mabel and our family in your thoughts and prayers and do a random act of kindness or donate to a charity of your choosing in her honor.
