Michael D. Burke

Michael D. Burke, of Lower Gwynedd, died on Saturday June 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 67.

Born in Philadelphia, Michael was the beloved husband of Margaret M. “Peg” Finucan, dearest father of Maura Burke (late Josh Miller) and son of the late Edmund F. and Helen McGuckin Burke.

Michael spent his early years summering in Stone Harbor, NJ, where he worked at many jobs, played baseball and basketball, and enjoyed the ocean and the beach.

Michael was a graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory High School, class of 1972.  He attended Temple University.

A Certified Arborist, he was a lover of trees and will be missed by many colleagues and friends.

Mike was known for his expert ability to make others laugh and feel good.

In addition to his beloved wife, Michael is survived by his siblings, Louise M. Burke, Denise R. Burke, Helen M. Burke and her husband Dr. Charles Denny, and Edmund F. “Ted” Burke Jr. and his wife Marsha. Michael is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 428 S. Main Street North Wales, PA 19454, on Tuesday June 29, 2021 with Words of Remembrance at 10:55 am, his Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am.  Michael’s interment will be private.

A celebration of Michael’s life will take place later this summer in Stone Harbor, NJ.
