Mary E. Martin (Friedl)

Mary E. Martin of Newtown died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, June 21, 2021 at her home.  She was 74.

Mary was the loving wife of William J. Martin and together they shared nearly 47 years of love, marriage, and family.

Born in St. Marys, PA she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Woelfel Friedl and was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Martin.

Mary graduate from Lock Haven University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  A job with Pennsbury School District would bring her to Bucks County and she would end up meeting Bill on a district ski trip as he was also a teacher at the High School.  The two would marry a couple of years later and begin their family, at which time Mary retired from Teaching and followed another one of her passions, antiquing.  She owned and operated Nostalgic Nook in Wrightstown up until recently and was a trusted resource for rare and interesting finds.

Mary was also deeply devoted to her faith and together with her husband made 10 pilgrimages to Medjugorje, a place that for both of them brought great solace during some of the hardest times they faced.

A great lover of beautiful flowers, Mary enjoyed gardening and time with her family, especially her grandson.  She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Mary leaves behind her son, William M. Martin and his wife, Melissa Yates Martin, of Roxborough; her grandsons Henry and Andrew Martin; and her sister, Ann Sorg and her husband, David, of St. Marys PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954 and on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.  Her interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.
