Claudia Stepien (Shurtleff)

Claudia Stepien (Shurtleff), 61, of Robbinsville, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Born October 1, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Joan (Olszewski) Shurtleff.

Claudia was a bright and loving woman who was a longstanding and successful real estate broker and manager for 34 years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A graduate of Rutgers University class of 1981, she held passions for community service and civic duty, evidenced by her ongoing dedication to The Rotary Club of Robbinsville-Hamilton. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, volunteering, and exploring local and national historical and cultural sites. Claudia was a devout Catholic who held her faith close and taught youth classes within her church at St. Gregory the Great in Hamilton, NJ. Her positive and upbeat spirit touched each person who entered her life and above all else, took extreme pride in the accomplishments of her daughters.

Claudia will be sadly missed and is survived by her two daughters, Danielle and Rachel Stepien. She is also survived by her husband of 34 years, William Stepien. One of eight siblings, she is survived by her brothers, sisters, and their spouses: James W. Shurtleff Jr. (Jill), Paul Shurtleff (Nancy), Julia Villacorta, Patricia Millen, Sylvia and Jeffrey Cutler, Carl Shurtleff, and Mark Shurtleff; her several nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Beth Woodhead and brothers-in-law, Douglas Millen and Ybet Villacorta. 

Services will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690, on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 am. A celebration of life will be held at a local venue following the service.
