Carolyn Nona Thompson (Haynes)

Carolyn Nona Thompson  (Haynes), passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Manor on August 29, 2021 at the age of 79, just days away from celebrating her 80th birthday.

She was the loving wife of Joseph T. Thompson, DMD, MAGD and together they shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. 

Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 3, 1941, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Pauline (Pat) A. (DiTommaso) and George H. Haynes of Rye, N.H. Growing up she was a member of St. Joachim Parish where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Hallahan High School for Girls in 1959 and was a member of the first Gwynedd Mercy College nursing class in 1961. Carolyn was a devout Catholic and her faith guided her life. She was devoted to her family and her greatest joy was loving them every day. 

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her younger brother, Paul Haynes, her brothers-in-law William N. Cowden and George Thompson and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Thompson. She will be fondly remembered by her beloved sister, Patricia Cowden, her sister-in-law Jean Haynes and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret (Thompson) and Edward Schoen.

Carolyn will be greatly missed by her children, Shannon L. Thompson Connolly and Joseph T. Thompson, II, her daughter-in-law, Susan Dodge and her grandchildren, Ian F. Thompson, Shane C. Connolly, Carolyn A. Connolly, Claire V. Thompson, Sophia C. Thompson and Liam J. Connolly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn’s family, will receive condolences on Thursday October 7, 2021 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 12:00pm at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Interment will be private.

The Thompson Family would appreciate that everyone greeting them wear masks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bede Parish Tuition Fund to provide scholarships for low to moderate income families and their children. Please indicate “in memory of Carolyn Thompson.”
