Alice M. Maiella (Foley)

Alice Marie Maiella, of Langhorne, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021. She was 96 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1924,she was the daughter of Sylvester and Helen Doonan Foley. Alice met her future husband Gerard (Jerry) at a church social while still a student at the prestigious Bishop McDonald High School high school in Brooklyn. Alice said she knew then that they were meant for each other and they enjoyed 77 years of marriage together. A devout Catholic, Alice was a parishioner at St Catherine’s in Blauvelt, NY and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes there for many years.

Living with her Italian mother-in-law, while her husband served in the Navy during WW2, Alice learned to become a master cook, specializing in Italian cuisine. She was also a craft enthusiast and, as anyone who knew her can attest, a lover of English mysteries. She also enjoyed extensive travel with her husband.

A great lover of home and family, Alice is predeceased by her husband Jerry, and daughters Carolyn Ferradas and Geraldine Lignori and is survived by daughters Patricia Steiner and her husband Ronald of Winter Garden, FL, Maureen Sansovini and her fiance Alan Lipscomb of Delray Beach, FL, Joanna Farrell and her husband Donald of Rockaway, NJ and Mary Cardinale and her husband Peter of Richboro, PA as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 10:30AM until her Funeral Mass at 12:15PM at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 131 Sycamore Ave., Newtown, PA 18940. She will be interred with her beloved husband after the Mass in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Alice’s name to Unbound, https://www.unbound.org/DonationFunds/General, a Catholic charity that serves underprivileged children and families, an organization that her daughter Carolyn and husband Pedro worked tirelessly for for many years.
