Regina Arlene "Jean" Gugger (Mann)

Regina Arlene “Jean” Gugger, 83, of Chalfont, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Gene F. Gugger. Born April 11, 1938 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Edna M. (Wilson) Mann.

Jean was raised in Plumsteadville, PA on her family’s farm. She attended Central Bucks High School and has maintained many of these childhood friendships to this day. As a teen, she was an avid dancer at Knecht Dance Studio in Bristol.

She was married in 1957 to her husband Gene Gugger of 63 years, and together they raised seven children in Croydon. For many years, Jean was a kindergarten and pre-school teacher at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the director of the Wilkinson Methodist Church Pre-School both in Croydon. She was involved in many volunteer activities as a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school, and many other church activities. Jean enjoyed many summers with family and friends at the Dolphin Swim Club in Croydon. Some of her hobbies included cooking, ceramics, crafts, and painting.

In her later years, she moved to Chalfont where she became very involved in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hilltown. Jean loved her grandchildren, and had a way of making each one feel like they were her favorite. Jean loved life and her bubbly, outgoing, and friendly personality filled every room she entered. She had a positive outlook, and she could often be heard saying “Let go and let God.” Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family.

Along with her husband, Gene, Jean is survived by seven children, Jerry Gugger (Robin), Sharon O’Donnell (Bob), Donna Evans (Mark), Scott Gugger (Sinoeun), Michael Gugger (Ilona), Gene Gugger (Janine), and Chad Gugger (Christine); 21 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901, and then again from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1530 Augsburg Drive, Hilltown, PA 18927. Interment will be held privately.

Contributions in Jean’s name can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
