Thomas A. Nester Jr.

Thomas A Nester, Jr. passed away on September 11, 2021 at the age of 82, in Richboro, Pennsylvania. Tom was the eldest son of the late Thomas A Nester Sr. and Elma Wood Nester. He will be desperately missed, but we are so grateful for the time we had with him.

Tom was loved by his wife of 59 years, Sue Rook Nester; children Scott Nester, Todd Nester, and Melinda Nester Greer; their spouses Susan, Nathalie, and John; his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as well as by his brothers, Earl Nester and Jerry Nester and his sister Barbara (Nester) Righter.

Tom pursued a lifelong interest in gardening, and he loved to spend time taking care of the yard. He was a hard worker and capable craftsman whose handiwork can be seen in all parts of the family home. In his youth, Tom played clarinet in a band and played saxophone as a Mummer with the Aqua String Band.  Throughout his life, he played the organ at home. Golf was a favorite pastime, with a defining moment where he won a “Hole in One” award during the annual company golf tournament. Tom loved sweets and was an unsuccessful hider of snack wrappers. He was a stickler for semantics, proper grammar, and vocabulary who diligently completed the Courier Times’ crossword puzzle for forty-plus years. He was always present: giving rides, watching the grandkids, teaching, fixing, helping wherever needed. He has left an indelible impression upon the family and beyond.

Friends and family are invited to Tom’s viewing on Tuesday September 14th from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Tom’s interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Benevolent Fund of Crossing Community Church which assists people in the surrounding area. Please include “Benevolent Fund” in the memo line. Mail to: Crossing Community Church 80 Lower Silver Lake Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
