Virginia B. Thompson (Bruce)

Virginia Claire Bruce Thompson of Furlong, PA passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 at Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, PA.  She was 77 years old when she lost her battle to Alzheimer's.

Virginia was born on April 23, 1944, in Winston-Salem NC.  Daughter to Mary Rebecca Watkins & James Edward Bruce.  Virginia was the youngest of three siblings, sister to her two late brothers James Bruce II and Edward Bruce.  She grew up in Decatur GA and was a graduate of Avondale High School.  She graduated from Georgia State College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.

She worked as a Biology Teacher before moving to Stratford CT in 1977 where she continued as a Substitute Teacher.  She then switched careers to become an Account Executive in the Insurance Industry.  In 1986 the Family moved to Bucks County PA where she finished out her career as an Office Manager for a local insurance company.  She loved working with children and spent her weekends as a Sunday School Teacher and volunteering with the church.

Virginia was a loving wife to her Late Husband James W. Thompson III.  She was truly an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Step-Grandmother, Cousin, sister-in-law, and friend, who always put everyone else before herself.  She wished nothing but the very best for her friends and family.

Believing strongly in her values and ethics, she was a HARD worker.  Had a strong faith in God, and loved attending church services.  She enjoyed working outside in her garden, and going for long walks.  She was a professional Cake Maker on the side, and we all enjoyed her homemade icing.  You always found Mom in the kitchen cooking up meals, and always loved to entertain.  She adored her cats; they were her therapy.  Always having something to do, she never sat still. Always wore a smile.

She will be forever missed and remembered by her children:  Bonnie Leight (Ron), Beth Stauffer (Stu), Grandchildren Kaitlynn Kaunzinger (Thomas), Ashley Haelle (TJ), Tyler and Matthew Hood.  Her friends and family across the miles will never forget her loving personality and spirit.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 10:00 am until her Funeral Service 11:00 am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave., (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901. Her interment with her husband will take place privately in Sumter, SC.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, The Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
