Ralph Samuel Bigley Jr.

Ralph Samuel Bigley Jr. died at home in Chalfont on Saturday, January 22, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. He was 90 years old.

Ralph was the doting husband of Janet Lyn Hartman. The couple had shared many years of friendship, laughter, fun and fond memories.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Ralph was the only son of the late Ralph Samuel Sr. and Irene Moore Bigley. He was the brother of the late Diane Goetz.

Ralph was raised in Pittsburgh, and while his family was of modest means, he worked hard and obtained both his BS in Psychology and MA in Administrative Law from the University of Pittsburgh. He also proudly served with both the US Army and the US Marines.

For many years he worked for the Juvenile Parole Board in Pittsburgh, a job that he found tremendously rewarding. Eventually, his career with the Parole Board brought him to the Philadelphia area where he continued to help make a difference.

In addition to his wife Jan, Ralph is survived by his two sons; his granddaughter Sherri Evans and his great grandson Jayden Evans. He will be remembered by his niece Paula (Jimmy) Consolaro and his nephew Patrick (Suzie) Kuras.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Ralph’s family on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Road) in New Britain, PA 18901. At that time, a funeral procession will form to Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road in Newtown, PA 18940, for a 1:00 pm interment with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ralph’s name may be made to Bucks County Free Library at 150 South Pine Street in Doylestown, PA 18901 or to Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758516 in Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
