Eugene Wilson Kennedy

Eugene Wilson Kennedy Jr. died peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his home in Levittown, PA. Born in Butler, PA, Gene was the son of the late Eugene W. Senior and Mary Kennedy; he was the brother of the late Tom Kennedy and Lois Wilson and grandfather of the late Christopher Purcell.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Beverly, he is survived by his children, Keith Kennedy, Lea Purcell, Karen Hughes, Barbara McKenna and Kelly Speldrich; his sister, Barbara Gressley; his 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Gene was a quiet yet good humored man with a heart for charitable giving. In the 52 years as a charter member, and years as president, of the Bucks County Newtown Lions Club, Gene was the driving force for many fund raising events including the All Star Football Classic. His love for his family was matched with his love for creating programs and maintaining Camp Kirby, a camp in Upper Black Eddy for visually and hearing impaired youth.

Relatives and friends may greet Gene’s family on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, at Holland Road, Richboro, PA 18954. A funeral procession will then form to Washington Crossing National Cemetery where his burial will be held at 1:00 with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to benefit eye sight in Gene’s name may be made to Lions District 14a Charity, 27 S. State Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
