Muriel E. Briggs (Martin)

Muriel E. Briggs of Jamison and formerly of Richboro died peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at The Bridges at Warwick.  She was 101.

She was the beloved wife of the late Charles S. Briggs.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thornton H. and Una Maude Kelly Martin.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Muriel was a graduate of Olney High School.  Muriel and her late husband Charles moved to Richboro in 1951, where she has lived for over 71 years. She was a faithful and very active member of the Addisville Reformed Church, she worked tirelessly; for the Bazaar and the Country Store. 

Muriel was a go getter; she was one of the first female firefighters for the Northampton Volunteer Fire Company and eventually became the dispatcher for the them. She believed in giving her time and talents to the community, she was a member and former past President of the Northampton Township Historical Society and Member of the Bucks County Historical Society.

Muriel and her late husband Charlie believed in helping those less fortunate, they were part of the Mission Team at Addisville Reformed Church and went to Brewton, AL and taught 9th to 12th grades for 4 years. They also traveled to Africa., Alaska and Russia.    

Muriel is survived by her loving and devoted sons; John C. Briggs of Lakeville, PA,  James M. Briggs of Richboro, Thomas R. Briggs and his wife Linda of Forestport, NY, and David Briggs of Penns Park.  She is also survived by her three grandsons: John, Charles, and Russell and her three great grandchildren: John, Shane, and Samantha.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday March 12, 2022 at 9:00 am at Union Cemetery, Richboro, for Muriel’s Interment Prayers. Immediately following all are welcome to greet her family at the Addisville Reformed Church, 945 Second St. Pike, Richboro, from 9:30am until her Memorial Service at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Addisville Reformed Church at the above address.
