Catherine E. Ellis (Adolor)

Catherine E. Ellis returned to be with the lord on June 17, 2022 at age 87 at Abington Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, Cathy also known as Dolly graduated from John W. Hallahan High School and was the May Queen in 1952. She was employed at Bell Telephone and Pennsylvania Railroad Accounting Departments before wedding her beloved husband, Joseph Ellis in 1955.

She is survived by her husband Joe and her children; Linda Ellis, Diane Bennett and her husband Dave, Paul Ellis and his wife Donna, and her 6 loving grandchildren; Michael & Keith Bennett, Jamie, Nick, Alaina and Ally Ellis.

Cathy was a longtime resident of Bucks County. She also worked for the I.R.S. and attended Bucks County Community College where she enrolled in classes to become a realtor. As a realtor, Cathy sold homes in the Holland and Yardley areas for many years. She was a member of the Southampton Soroptimist Club and the Holland Lioness Club in the 1980’s. A communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, she participated in the “Aids for Friends” ministries.

She enjoyed fun weekends with friends in the “JSC” club for 15 years. Dolly looked forward to meeting with Lovely Ladies for monthly “Lunch Brunch”. She also went to the Walnut Theater shows downtown with the “Ladies”. Everyone who knew her always said: “What a classy lady,” and she certainly was.

Cathy loved traveling which she did with Joe for numerous years to destinations like; Europe, 34 states in the U.S., various cruises and going to the shore in Rehoboth Beach and Wildwood Crest. Although her favorite were the yearly trips to Aruba for weeks at a time in the winter.

For Dolly, being a Mom-Mom, as she was known to her grandchildren, was her greatest joy. She loved to shop for all six grandchildren, especially when taking the grandkids to Disney World or Williamsburg, VA. She made sure they all had matching outfits. Her and Pop-Pop did not miss a sporting event, show, play, or graduation. They were always there to cheer their grandchildren on with lots of love.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Catherine’s family from 10:00am, until the start of her Funeral Mass, 11:00am, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 611 Knowles Avenue, Southampton 18966. Catherine’s interment will be held privately on another date.
