Joseph Vassallo

Joseph Vassallo, of Churchville, PA, died on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:11am at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Abington, PA. He was 91 years old, just short of 92.

Joseph was the husband of Grace Stellato Vassallo. The couple had shared 66 years of love, family and friendship.

Born in the town of Celso, in the Cilento region of Italy. Joseph was the son of the late Gennaro Vassallo and Fortunata Oranges Vassallo.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Gennaro Vassallo.

After serving in the Italian Army as a Sergeant and graduating college with a degree in engineering Joseph came to America in 1955. Shortly after his arrival he met his wife Grace and pursued his entrepreneurship as a general contractor and real estate investor. He believed in a strong work ethic and his love for family.  He was a member and President of the Sons of Italy, The Lions Club, and Vice President of the United Soccer League. He loved to garden, take care of his fig trees, play bocce and make his homemade wine.

In addition to his wife Grace, Joseph’s legacy will be carried on by his children, Catherine Vassallo, Susan Berry and her husband Michael, and Joseph J Vassallo; his grandsons, Brett Schade and his wife Rachel, Nico Tuckfield and Joseph P Vassallo. He is also survived by his sister Catherine Giordano.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Joseph’s family on Friday, July 15, from 10am until the start of his Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road in Ivyland, PA 18954. His interment will take place privately, on a future date.
