Patricia M. Chiarlanza (McPhelim)

Patricia M. Chiarlanza of Newtown, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. She was 56 years old.

Pat was the beloved wife of Louis P. Chiarlanza and mother to James J. Chiarlanza.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Pat was the daughter of Joan M. McPhelim (Pointer) and the late John J. McPhelim.

Pat was a graduate of Cabrini College, Class of 1987. Upon graduation, she began working for the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company where she would spend her 35-year career. Pat served the company in many roles of increasing responsibility; her most recent as the Director of Financial Operations as well as Chairwoman for the United Way.

At the heart of Pat was family.  Her favorite hobby was entertaining her friends and family for every occasion big or small.  Christmas was her favorite holiday; often decorating five Christmas trees in her home.  She was generous with her time, talent, and treasures.  She had a smile that would light up the room and couldn’t do enough for anyone in need.

Pat was very active in her support of her son James’ athletic activities through the Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association. She was an avid supporter of several charitable organizations, with the Purple Heart Service Foundation being her favorite. Pat was also a member of the Holy Ghost Prep Mothers Guild. She enjoyed summer vacations in Cape Cod MA and traveled extensively during her single years.

In addition to her husband and son, Pat is survived by her mother, Joan McPhelim of Audubon, PA, sister Barbara A. DeGeorge, brother-in-law Angelo and godson Michael J. DeGeorge of Collegeville, PA, in-laws Elizabeth Tafel (William) and Rosemarie Demarest (Donald), first cousin Marjorie Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
