Marilyn E. Boyer (Blackburn)

Marilyn E. Blackburn Boyer of Holland, PA, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Holland Village (formerly Twining Village) with her loving granddaughter at her side. She was 92 years old.

Born in Johnstown PA, she was the only daughter of the late Thomas and Arminta Blackburn.

Marilyn was a dedicated and much loved teacher at Holland Elementary School for 30 years, most of those in 3rd grade, retiring in 1995. She will be remembered by her former students for the annual operettas that she led, for her ability to make learning fun and mostly for her caring spirit.

Marilyn was a long-time member of North & Southampton Reformed Church in Churchville and spent 55 years singing in the church choir, which was one of her great joys. During her membership with the church, she served as a deacon and elder, was a leader and member of the Ruth circle, volunteered with NGA and AID for Friends and participated in the afghan ministry.

In her leisure time, Marilyn enjoyed music, reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was a gentle woman with a sharp, dry wit who always had a smile on her face and was especially known for her wonderful hugs. She will be dearly missed.

Marilyn is survived by her loving children, Deann Harris and Jeffrey (Nancy) Boyer; her grandchildren Danielle Harris and Thomas (Aubree) Boyer; her great grandchildren Charlotte and Madeline Boyer; her brother Daniel (Linda) Blackburn and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Marilyn’s family on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10 AM, until time of her Memorial Service at 11 AM at North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Rd, Churchville, PA 18966. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Rd, Churchville, PA 18966 or Southampton Branch of NGA, c/o Karen Fesmire, 960 E. Maple Dr., Southampton, PA 18966.
