Joan M. Chivetta (Ferreri)

Joan "Joanie" Marie Chivetta of Sellersville died on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She was 80 years old. Daughter of the late Salvatore and Lillian (Gilberti) Ferreri. Joan was born and raised in the Overbrook neighborhood of West Philadelphia and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls' High School in 1960.

After marriage, Joan lived in several different regions around the US before settling in St. Louis, Missouri to raise her family. Later, as a single mother, Joan worked her way through college earning her Associates in Applied Science, Nursing from St. Louis Community College at Meramec in 1988. Psychiatric nursing became Joan's chosen field before she obtained her license as a Registered Nurse. She worked hard caring for her psychiatric patients for over 20 years before she retired. Sadly, Joan's career ended prematurely due to a pulmonary illness. Joan enjoyed listening to live symphonies and attending operas having developed a deep appreciation for opera and classical music early in life.

Joan is survived by her sons, Jon Michael Chivetta and his fiancee Michelle Parlett of Florida, Jeffrey Mark Chivetta and his wife Megan Chivetta (née O’Connor) of Fountainville, PA, and her sister Rosemarie B. (Lawrence) Rinaldi of New Jersey. Joan was predeceased in death by her brother Lawrence L. (Minerva) Ferreri.

Joan’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 9:30 AM until her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901. Her interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
