Thomas I. McNutt

Thomas I. McNutt of Doylestown, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Grand View Hospital. He was 87. Tom was the loving husband of Helen E. McFadden McNutt for 52 years.

Born in Philadelphia, Tom was the son of the late Cornelius J. and Leona Hoar McNutt.

For nearly 40 years, Tom was a dedicated educator who taught English and Latin at Bishop McDevitt HS in Wyncote, Pa, where he founded McDevitt’s theater program. Tom was truly a Renaissance man who adored theater arts, the written and spoken word, and maintained throughout his life an affectious and deep spirituality that inspired all he met.

Tom was president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG/AFTRA). He was a member of Actors Equity and was active in the TV and Film Arts industry.

Tom was a “Friend of Bills” and was involved and supportive within the recovery community.

In addition to Helen, Tom is survived by his beloved sons, Scott McNutt and his wife Marie of New Jersey, Mark McNutt and his wife Tara of Spinnerstown, Thomas McNutt and his wife Rita of Quakertown, and Christopher of Doylestown; grandchildren, Katelyn, Sean Michael, Brian, Maura, Andrew, Gabriel, Ava, Autumn, and Brielle. Tom was predeceased by his brothers, Cornelius, Walter, John and James.

Thomas’s family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM until his Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901. Interment will take place at a later date.

In Tom’s memory, the family asks that you show an act of kindness for someone else, just as Tom would.
