Joseph W. Dolinski Jr.

Joseph W. Dolinski, Jr., 90, of Warrington, lost his battle with prostate cancer on Monday, October 31, 2022.

Born April 16, 1932 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Salomea (Ciesielka) Dolinski, Sr.

A self-made man, coming from humble beginnings in Northeast Philadelphia, he soon became a star athlete from an early age and gained recognition as a key player on the Frankford High School football team, earning a full 4-year football scholarship to Oberlin College, where he played football and was lacrosse team captain. Before that, he even danced several times on American Bandstand.

After earning his physical education degree, he joined the Army, serving 4 years in Okinawa, where he also developed his scuba diving skills and became an avid swimmer.  He then completed an electrical engineering degree from Penn State University.

A brilliant design engineer, he went on to make significant contributions to NASA during its hay day in the 1960s and also, later, to the burgeoning telecommunications industry. He truly loved all animals, but particularly dogs, including his beloved Spike who preceded him in death. He loved the beach, growing vegetables, and maintained a keen attachment to the forests and wildlife of Upper Bucks County.   He enjoyed fishing and travel, as well as cherished time with his friends, including weekly visits with his old high school buddies.

He is survived by his two children, Dr. Lori Dolinski (Clark Kline) of Ottsville and Dr. Stephen Dolinski (Carole DiGiuseppe) of Jamison ; a sister, Judy Kampf (Richard); his nieces, Lisa and Denise, as well as his former spouses, Joyce Dolinski of Upper Black Eddy and Janet Cicalese of Southampton.

Joseph’s family will receive condolences from 10:30am until his funeral mass at 11:30am on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, PA. Interment will take place privately at a later date.

Contributions in Joe’s name can be made to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd Street New York, NY 10128 or to the Humane Society, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450 Washington D.C. 20037.
