Joseph Kevin O'Neill

Joseph Kevin O’Neill passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Naples Florida. He died peacefully, aged 81, surrounded by his loving family.

Kevin was born in Philadelphia on October 28, 1941, the first of five children of the late John Patrick and Kathleen (Prior) O’Neill. Both Kevin’s parents had immigrated to Philadelphia from Ireland. Kevin, who family and friends endearingly called “Moose”, is survived by his wife Beverly (Carl). High school sweethearts, they met at an Our Lady of Ransom parish dance when Kevin was 18 years old and a senior at Father Judge High School and Bev 17 years old, a junior at Saint Hubert’s High School. When Kevin returned home after, he told his younger brother Jack, “I met the girl I am going to marry.” Two years later they did just that, on a sunny day in June, Kevin and Bev married at Saint Martin of Tours church . On June 2 2022, they celebrated 60 years of a truly blessed and happy wedded life. Soon after marriage, Kevin began work as an insurance agent for Allstate. His honest and trustworthy character helped him develop one of the largest book of clients at Allstate. He and Bev enjoyed traveling the world while winning numerous sales awards. In 2015 he celebrated 50 years with Allstate and retired 2 years later. His career, like his marriage and so much of his life, was the embodiment of dedication and loyalty. In 1968 Kevin and Bev built a home in Bucks County PA, where they spent the next 38 years in an idyllic setting raising their five children and three foster daughters. The home on Woodstream Drive was the scene of countless visitors, extended family and friends gathering together for their annual Christmas party and summer barbecues around the pool. These anticipated celebrations, so generously offered, brought together dozens of cousins and friends who otherwise might not see each other from one year to the next. Following retirement, Kevin and Bev divided their time between their homes in Ocean City, New Jersey and Naples, Florida where Moose spent much of his time golfing, riding his bike, reading (non-fiction, mostly about Ireland and Winston Churchill, his favorite subjects) and spending time with their large family. It was not uncommon for Moose to open up his home to family, friends and more importantly even strangers. He coached his kids in one sport or another and supported any and all of their varied interests. Moose also was known to throw a bunch of kids in his car for a drive in movie, a Phillies parade or a trip to Playwicki park. His personal favorite was a summer night drive after dinner to Goodnoe’s farm with the kids to feed the cows and eat ice cream.

Kevin was preceded in death by his brother Jack. He is survived by his devoted wife Beverly and five children: son Kevin and wife Colleen and their three children: Olivia, Bridget and Griffin. Daughter Maura and husband Martin Endres and their four children; John, Elizabeth, Jane and Faythe. Son Patrick and wife Sara and their two children: Kayleigh and Kevin. Daughter Katie and husband Michael Mullen and their three children: Liam, Mollie, and Aidan. Son Brian and wife Kelley and their three children: Jack, Ryan and Allie. Foster daughters Kathleen Cushing and two children: Chelsea and Chase. Jeanne and husband Chester Rosanski and their three children: Matthew, Christopher and Stephen. Maureen McGuigan and her daughter Angela. He is survived also by his sister Kathleen O’Neill Benshila, brother Hugh Brian O’Neill , sister Margaret (Peggy) O’Neill and her husband Robert Gambarelli and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin’s family will receive family and friends on Saturday December 17th from Noon to 1:30pm followed by a burial mass at 2pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Springs Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA 18902.
