Christine Degatano (Purchia)

Christine Degatano passed away, peacefully, on November 19, 2022, at her residence in Doylestown, PA.

Mom, Grandma, Aunt Chrissy, Chris was born on Christmas Day, 1932, in Yonkers, NY. She was married, raised her family and lived most of her life in Yonkers. She is survived by her sons Al (Paula), Mark (Linda), and Chris (Janice); grandchildren Paulette, Angela, and Amanda, Michael and Andrew, Stephen, Jessica, and Thomas; five great grandchildren; sister Josephine and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband, Joey, predeceased her in 2020, after having been married 69 years.

Mom was a proud graduate of Commerce HS and a talented sewer/crafter. She first worked at the Little Miss Toggle Sewing company before getting married. While raising her three sons, she was a waitress at Bickford's Pancake House. Throughout her life she applied her high energy and extraordinary talent to make dresses, outfits, hundreds of craft items, and tailoring clothing for family and friends.

She had a beautiful smile that would endear her to all who met her and could light up a room. She often spoke of her wonderful childhood with her sister, brothers, and her Mama and Papa. She enjoyed time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren. Mom was well loved and she will be sorely missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on December 21, 2022 from 1:00pm until a celebration of her life at 1:30 pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave., New Britain, PA.  All are invited to luncheon afterward.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
