Vernon York Cassel

Vernon York Cassel of Chalfont passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was 79. He was the beloved husband of Susan J. Erwin Cassel for 57 years.

York was born in Doylestown, son to the late Samuel and Ida Crouthamel Cassel.

He received his certificate in drafting from Temple University and became a draftsman, working for American Olean/Armstrong Tile for 29 years. York was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, particularly at his sister’s farm in Benton.  At home he was a committed gardener and spent much time caring for his yard and garden. In his workshop, he built and refinished wood projects.  His family was his life.

Along with his wife Sue, York is survived by his children, David Cassel of Perkasie and Debbe Carson and her husband Bruce of Kent, WA; grandchildren Corwin Carson, Eli Carson, Mori Everleigh, Benjamin Carson, Brady Carson and Chris Carson; siblings, Harold Cassel and his late wife Irene, Marie Slack and her late husband Dothard, and many nieces and nephews. York was predeceased by his brother Stan Cassel and Sister-in-Law Teresa, and sister Shirley Arnold and Brother-in Law Keith.

York’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue, New Britain, PA 18901. A brief celebration of life will take place at 11:00 AM.

In his memory, contributions may be made to Lenape Valley Church, 321 W Butler Ave, New Britain, PA 18901.
