Dorothy Louise Kiesel (Bartol)

Dorothy Kiesel of Holland, PA died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 1, 2022.  She was 95.

Born in Hazelton, PA she was the beloved wife of the late Warren H. Kiesel, the daughter of the late Aloysius and Margaret Pavlik Bartol and the sister of the late: Catherine Coleman, Theodore Bartol, Eleanor Renter, Barbara Bartol, Thomas J. Bartol, and Sr. Carol Bartol.

Dorothy or Dorthea as she liked to sometimes be called was a very special person.  When thinking of a word that comes to mind is DEVOTION.  Dorothy was very devoted to her family.  Family always came first.  Although at times she could be a little bossy, she was a true caregiver, caring for her Brothers and Sisters, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was the second oldest of ten children.  They grew up in Hazelton before moving to Philadelphia.  She helped her mother and father with the difficult loss of her brother Ted who was killed in the Korean War.  Unable to have children of her own, she became a surrogate mother to Margie.  She had many friends and she especially enjoyed dancing the Polka at the Pulaski Club.

It was while working at Honeywell that she met Warren, her boss.  She married the boss and went on to share many happy years together.  She had a wonderful marriage to her husband Warren from 1969 until his death in 2011.  During the summer months, she enjoyed going to Maple Manor Swim Club and often times took many nieces and nephews with her enjoy warm summer activities.  One of the most important persons in her life was Michael.  From the day that he was brought home from the hospital, she cherished and loved him.  She enjoyed spending time with Michael and his family.  Brianna, Christopher, and Sophia have brought many smiles and much happiness to her in the later years of her life.

It was the pleasure of Marge and Jack to have taken care of Dorothy and Warren in the final days of their time here on earth.  She is now at peace with Warren and all of her family members in Heaven.

Dorothy is survived by her sister Alice Horneman, Genevieve Bartol, and Marge McKenna and her Husband John.  She is also survived by her Godson Michael McKenna and his family as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00AM in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road Holland, PA 18966.  Her interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.
