Elizabeth "Betty" Andrus (Zeldin)

Elizabeth “Betty” Andrus (Zeldin) 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, at home in the presence of her husband of 67 years, Edward Andrus, daughter Connie Mossop, and son Michael Andrus. She was the daughter of the late David and Mary (Mackle) Zeldin.

Betty was an active member of St. Bede Roman Catholic Church in Holland, PA, where she and her husband lived for more than 60 years. They were among the founding members of St. Bede where she participated in many parish activities over the years including lunchroom mother and first president of the women’s club.

Betty was a graduate of Frankford High School and attended Palmer Business School where she later became an administrator and part-time teacher. After many years as a homemaker and raising her children, she returned to the business community as part-owner and general manager of Montgomery Court Apartments, a 115-unit rental apartment complex in Narberth, PA.

Betty was well known in Bucks County as a very kind and generous person. She was a wonderful hostess of many parties around her private home and pool as well as at her condos in Sea Isle City, NJ, and in St. Petersburgh, Florida. Betty’s beautiful personality and the love she demonstrated had a lasting effect on everyone she met.  She was cherished by all her family and friends, near and far. Consistent attributes to describe Betty include kind, selfless, unpretentious, lights up a room, life of the party, infectious smile and laugh, sweet voice, funny, sincere listener, unwavering friend.   She was quick to provide financial assistance to needy families in our community. She also provided financial contributions to poor families in Guatemala where, in one notable case, she provided a prosthesis for a young girl who had lost her leg in a truck accident.

In addition to her beloved husband Edward, Elizabeth is survived by her devoted children: Constance “Connie” Mossop and her husband James of Perkasie, PA and Michael Andrus and his wife Maria of Hallendale Beach, FL.  She is also survived by her granddaughter Lauren Andrus (fiancé Daniel Mitchell) and her step grandchildren: Lisa Beatty-Monahan (TJ), Jennifer Baranowski (Nick), James Mossop Jr. (Karen) and Ryan Mossop (Kelli) and her step great grandchildren: Thomas James (TJ), Catie, Riley, Garrett, Liam, Seamus, Kylie, Iyla, Alora, Roman.

Betty’s family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 10:30AM until her Funeral Mass 11:30AM in St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road Holland, PA 18966.  Her interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s memory online at compassuslivingfoundation.org or mailed to Compassus Hospice, 601 Office Center Drive, Suite 125, Ft. Washington, PA  19034.
