William S. Smith

William S. Smith of Northeast Philadelphia died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. He was 80. Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved husband of Suzann Pico Smith for the past 15 years, son of the late Charles and Margaret Stotz Smith.

Bill as all knew him was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, as a Radio Operator from 1961 to 1964 at the Aleutian Islands and the Philippine Islands. Bill’s career spanned many years and in various professions, from the beverage and beer distribution and most recently a school bus driver for Council Rock School District from 2007 to 2022. He was a communicant of St. Anselm Parish for many years and was a CCD teacher.

As a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, he and Suzann enjoyed tailgating and rooting for their team at the Linc. Bill and his wife Suzann also enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Jersey Shore. Bill also enjoyed watching TV with his buddy Rags.

In addition to his beloved wife, Bill is survived by his daughter Joy Watkins (Wayne) and son Charles (Mischa), 3 Granddaughters and 2 Great Granddaughters, His sister-in-law Cathy Pico and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet his wife and family on Tuesday March 14, 2023 from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am in St. Anselm Church 12670 Dunks Ferry Rd. Phila. His Interment with Military Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Plymouth Meeting, Suite 520 Plymouth Meeting, PA. 19426.
