Louise W. Rohr

Louise W. Rohr, née Weiner, of Doylestown, PA died on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Pine Run Lakeview surrounded by family. She was 103.

Born in 1919 in Reading, Pa, she was the daughter of the late David and Minnie (Fisher) Weiner.

Louise worked in high school as an elevator operator at Reading’s Pomeroy Department Store, later she worked as a salesclerk at her brother’s jewelry store, Howard’s Jewelry in Doylestown, and later still in accounts receivable at PennEngineering. She was the beloved wife of Glenn A. Rohr, who passed in 2001. Louise and Glen eloped to Elkton, MD in 1940 and were married for over 60 years.

Louise was a feminist and an avid reader.  She made a fantastic Pa Dutch chicken potpie and a super boozy rum cake. She volunteered at Doylestown Hospital during her late 90s, stopping after her 100th birthday.

She is survived by her daughter Karen L. Simon and her husband Mark of Doylestown, two granddaughters, Marnie Simon and her husband Jeffrey Porter of Philadelphia and Carla Simon of Doylestown. She is also survived by her two great-granddaughters, Vivienne and Elliana Porter, and niece, Gayle Rose and her husband Herbert of California.

Her graveside service will be held privately in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Doylestown Hospital, 595 W. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
