Veronica "Ronnie" Hoch (Bender)

Veronica (Ronnie) Hoch, age 92, of Newtown, PA and the Kensington section of Philadelphia, PA passed away on March 10th, 2023.  Ronnie was born in Philadelphia to John and Elizabeth Bender.  On February 7th, 1948 she married her beloved husband of 34 years, Fred, and they went on to have six children together. 

In addition to raising her family Ronnie worked outside of the house, most notably at CIGNA Corporation until her retirement.  Upon retiring she moved to Newtown, PA to be closer to her children and grandchildren.  Ronnie was an active member in the Newtown Seniors and in turn developed a lot of new friendships.  She also volunteered to work the voting polls and the Wrighstown Grange Fair, loved watching old movies on AMC as well as a being an avid card player with a small circle of fellow senior women.  But what brought Ronnie the most enjoyment was being able to spend time with her family, and most especially, her cherished grandchildren.

Ronnie is preceded in death by her husband James (Fred) F. Hoch, her eldest child Harry Hoch (Rita), her sister Cecelia and brothers John and William.  She is survived by her five children Josephine Hoopes (Robert), Veronica Hornung (Dennis), James Hoch, Sharon Venuto (George) and Deborah Gibson (Richard) as well as eleven grandchildren, seven great children and one great, great grandchild

Ronnie’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00AM in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road Newtown, PA 18940.  Her interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contribution in her name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
