P. Jean Froehlich (Simoson)

P. Jean (Simoson) Froehlich, 97, of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.  She was the beloved wife of the late J. Thomas Froehlich, who passed away in 2013.  They were married for 55 years.

Born January 29, 1926 in Bloomsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Loren E. and Mary E. (Peckne) Simoson.

Jean was a Cadet nurse during WWII and is honored in the Women’s WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.  She had a long career as a registered nurse which culminated as an Assistant Director of Nursing at Pine Run in Doylestown, PA. 

Jean loved accompanying her husband on hunting and fishing trips traveling to Montana and even Africa!  She enjoyed fishing at their cabin in Pennsylvania and going to the beach with her family. During her life she swam in oceans and lakes from New Jersey to Florida, California, Hawaii, Spain, Aruba, Costa Rica, Africa, and more! 

She was a wonderfully caring person who loved her husband, children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren with all of her heart.

Survivors include four children, Mary L. Ingalsbe and her husband Bruce, Deborah L. Chanco, J. Thomas Froehlich, Jr. and Jean Biedka; six grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Mary Kathryn, Patricia Jean, Robin and Alexis; and ten great-grandchildren, Ethan, Zachary, Alex, Robert Jr, Malakai, Ariella, Kayana, Nathan, Shiloh, and Paige.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 12:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery.

Contributions in Jean’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.
