Christopher J. Vassalluzzo D.O. Service Information

Christopher “Chris” J. Vassalluzzo, DO, of Newtown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 9th at his home in Newtown, PA.  He was 59. He was the beloved husband of 25 years to Diane Morrone-Vassalluzzo.

While he was born in Philadelphia, Chris was a lifelong resident of Bucks County. He was the son of the late Dr. Julio E. and Rosemarie Pellegrino Vassalluzzo. 

Chris attended Maple Point High School and was a proud graduate of the class of 1981.  While in high school, he played varsity tennis for 4 years and played trumpet in the marching band. As an undergrad at LaSalle University, Chris enjoyed his time on the varsity tennis team and was very active in student government. Chris attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri where he served on many boards and associations. During his residency at The Medical College of Pennsylvania, Department of Emergency Medicine, he was named Chief Resident and the Teaching Resident of the Year.

Throughout his career, Chris worked with a variety of hospitals and medical organizations.  He began his career at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Emergency Medicine where he earned the distinguished award “2005 Emergency Physician of the Year.” He moved to Easton Hospital as Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine.  While at Easton Hospital, he also served as Medical Director for Lockheed Martin Engineering and Satellite Company. Adding to his many accolades, Chris was an assistant Clinical Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University College of Medicine.  He also published papers in various medical journals such as The Journal of Emergency Medicine and The Journal of Toxicology.

Most recently, Chris attended the Temple University College of Public Health.  He was due to receive his degree this year.

In his spare time, Chris enjoyed gardening and was a long-time volunteer at the Philadelphia Flower Show. He always felt he inherited his gardening avocation from his late mother and father.

Most of all, Chris loved spending time with his family.  He received so much joy watching Gianna, Gabriella, and Jonathon grow and succeed in life. He was their biggest cheerleader and took great pride in all they accomplished.

In addition his loving wife and children, Chris is survived by his two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and William Carpentier of LaPlata, MD and Elizabeth and David Tentilucci of Newtown, PA.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA, until his funeral mass at 11:30am.
