Renita Doris Zimmerman (Stowers)

Renita Doris Zimmerman (Renee) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7,2023 at St Mary Medical Center in Middletown Twp. She was 98 years old. Renee was the beloved wife to the late Joseph F. Zimmerman Sr and daughter to the late George Wilbur Stowers and Bertha Aileen Phipps (Bowman).

She lived in Philadelphia most of her young life where she met Joseph. They married on March 6, 1943 in Duckhill, Mississippi. They enjoyed 73 years of marriage until Joe’s death in 2015.

Their early years of marriage were spent raising their 5 children in Roslyn, PA. In 1970, they moved to Churchville, PA. and then later retired to New Port Richey FL. They eventually returned to Pennsylvania, where they resided with their daughter, Renita in Newtown.

Renee enjoyed being a homemaker when her children were young and eventually worked as a dietician at St Mary’s Villa for Children in Ambler until her retirement.

She loved gardening, crocheting, reading and watching StarTrek but most of all enjoyed her weekly night out dancing with Joe.

Renee was preceded in death by her son Joseph Zimmerman, Jr and is survived by her loving children, David (Jeanette) of Telford, Renita (Joseph) of Newtown, Jeanette Daley of Quakertown and Steven of Port Richey, FL. Renee is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Renita's family on Wednesday, May 24 from 11:00am, until the start of her Funeral Mass at 12:00pm at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road in Newtown, PA 18940. Her interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bucks County Association for Retarded Citizens,18950 York Rd, PO box 470, Holicong, PA 18928.
