Phyllis Jacobs Service Information

Phyllis Jacobs, an elegant woman whose grace and warmth captivated all who knew her, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, surrounded by her daughters. Born and raised in the vibrant streets of South Philadelphia, Phyllis was a beacon of kindness and sophistication throughout her life.

Phyllis was akin to an Italian movie star, exuding a timeless charm that enchanted everyone she met. Her elegance extended beyond her appearance; it permeated her every action and interaction, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to cross her path.

A consummate cook, Phyllis's culinary talents were renowned far and wide. From the Feast of the Seven Fishes to Sunday gravy, her kitchen was a place of magic, where she effortlessly concocted delicious meals that brought joy to countless gatherings of family and friends. Her legacy as a chef will be cherished by all who had the privilege of savoring her creations.

Phyllis was not only a paragon of style and culinary prowess but also a beacon of strength and guidance for her daughters and others. Karen, Holly, and Ellyn were not only her daughters but also her pride and joy. Phyllis's influence as a role model extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of all who looked up to her.

Phyllis's journey began at South Philadelphia High School, where her love for English blossomed, and her dream of becoming a teacher took root. After high school, she pursued further education at Temple University, where she honed her skills and passion. It was during this time that she met Gene Jacobs in the elevator at Goodway, and their love story began.

In 1961, Phyllis and Gene embarked on a lifelong journey together, bound by love and devotion. Together, they welcomed three daughters into their lives and built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Phyllis's daughters fondly remember her as a nurturing and involved mother, always present in their lives and deeply committed to their well-being.

In 1977, the Jacobs family planted new roots in Bucks County, where Phyllis embraced her role as a pillar of the community. Her professional endeavors in the fragrance industry, notably with Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent, showcased her impeccable taste and dedication to excellence.

Throughout her life, Phyllis remained actively engaged in charitable and social endeavors, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity. Her membership in Bucks County Neighbors and her frequent visits to the Bucks County Library underscored her commitment to community and lifelong learning.

In her leisure time, Phyllis enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations to come. Following her daughters' graduations, Phyllis embarked on countless adventures, traversing the globe and embracing new experiences with an open heart and boundless enthusiasm.

Phyllis's legacy of love, elegance, and kindness will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and an indelible imprint on the lives of all who were touched by her grace.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted daughters Karen Jacobs, Holly Jacobs, and Ellyn McLaughlin (Ray), and her adoring grandsons Scott Hakim (Claudia), Sean Hakim, and Jake McLaughlin. She is predeceased by her husband, Gene Jacobs, parents, Joseph and Helen Prete and sister, Diana Monostro. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing her.

In her honor, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Inglis House .

A tribute lunch and celebration of Phyllis's life will be held starting at 1pm on April 13, 2024 at The Fellowship Hall at the Lutheran Church of God’s Love (791 Newtown Yardley Rd., Newtown, PA). All are encouraged to share a memory or anecdote from 2-3:30pm.  Her internment will take place privately.

Though Phyllis may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will continue to illuminate our lives with love and cherished memories. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was dearly loved and will be eternally remembered.
