Joann Mary Burgos (Zhelesnik)

Joann Mary Burgos, 45 years old of Southampton, PA passed away on Friday, April 26th surrounded by her loving family after battling  cancer.

Joann was born in Meadowbrook, PA and resided in Richboro most of her life. She attended Council Rock schools and graduated Brookdale College for Automotive technology.

Joann was an avid equestrian and lover of all animals big or small. Working with horses since she was 9 years old, she competed in driving, dressage and jumping events, winning many accolades. She loved camping, the beach and anything outdoors.

She was a confident awe inspiring individual that always did it her way but went above and beyond to help anyone in need no matter how small or large the request. Her tenacity and drive for life inspired all those around her. She proved that no matter the cards you are dealt, you can beat the odds.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jonathan Gushue; parents, Joseph A. Zhelesnik, Jr. and Mary A.Tarquinio; brother, Steven Zhelesnik and sister, Susan Zhelesnik and grand daughter Lilly.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, May 1st from 10am-11am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA. A celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Joann’s name to the ASPCA at http://www.aspca.org/donate or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate.
