Juliet Joy Galante

Juliet Joy Galante (née Giordano) passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024 in Newtown, PA.

Born in April of 1940 to Dr. Otilio Giordano and Sadie Giordano of Philadelphia, Joy graduated a year early from Notre Dame Catholic High School, and went on to gain an undergraduate degree in 1961 from the University of Pennsylvania, one of only a few women in her class.

Joy married Robert F. Galante of Philadelphia in 1961, and they had Stephen, Robert Jr. and Richard, from 1962 to 1966.

After settling in Chatham, NJ in 1974, she became an entrepreneur. Joy created beauty wherever she went, and a stunning interior design project produced through her Madison, NJ business, Walls and Windows by Joy, was featured in the The New York Times.

The Galantes built several wonderful homes over the decades, and visitors hosted by Joy in Harrisburg, PA, Berwyn, PA, Chatham, NJ, Silver Spring, MD and Ivyland, PA enjoyed her exuberant welcome and elaborate homemade meals. Each of her homes was more beautiful than the last.

Intellectually keen and restless with ambition, in 2000 Joy entered the University of Maryland for a Master’s degree in computer programming. This was in her seventh decade of life, but Joy was still indefatigable.

Joy defied aging by commencing a teaching career when most others wind theirs down. She taught English, Computer Programming and Social Studies at Furness High School, where she and her students designed the website for the Mummers’ Museum.

Raised in an Italian-American family, Joy’s great love was creating amazing Italian meals for those lucky enough to be at her table. Joy was a Roman Catholic who knelt at the Cross her whole life. Today, she touches the face of God. As mother, entrepreneur and educator, Juliet Joy Galante led an astonishing life and she can never be separated from the love of her family.

Joy was predeceased by her parents Otilio and Sadie Giordano, by her brother Gerald Francis Giordano and her husband Robert. She is survived by her three sons, Stephen, Robert Jr., and Richard Galante; three grandchildren, Annamarie, Joseph, and Robert Galante; by her two nephews, Jerry and David Giordano; and her niece Kristen Giordano.

Family and friends are invited to the meet the family on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave (at Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain PA, 18901. Internment will take place privately.
