Agnes M. Riva

Agnes “Maggie“ Riva, of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully Thursday, June 6, 2024. Agnes was 88.

Agnes was the beloved wife of 64 years to John “Jack” Riva. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles V. and Catherine V. Walsh ( Foley).

Agnes was raised in the Bronx, New York. She had five sisters. She graduated from high school and entered the work force.

Agnes met Jack, the love of her life, at work. Jack nicknamed her Maggie, a name she retained among friends for the balance of her life. Agnes and Jack married in 1959 and had four children: Doug, Andrew, Katie, and Rob. Sadly, Andrew was deceased at birth. Agnes and Jack enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage together. They were remarkably bonded and very devoted to one another. Agnes’ passing succeeded Jack’s passing by ten weeks.

Agnes had a strong devotion to God. She was profoundly spiritual and was known to have a “direct line to heaven.” Her faith offered her tremendous solace and strength. She lived by her Christian values as evidenced by her exceptional character. She was a role model for what it means to be kind, patient, loyal, courageous, and generous.

Agnes was very committed to family. In addition to her devotion to her husband, Jack, Agnes was incredibly dedicated to her sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Agnes was born to be a mother and a grandmother. She stayed home to raise her children. Agnes was also incredibly involved in the lives of her grandchildren residing with all of them when they were infants or toddlers. She treated each child as a “one and only” and approached everyday playtime events with enthusiasm and excitement.

Agnes had an extraordinary gift for engaging in activities and games at children’s levels and truly enjoyed it. Likewise, she had a true knack for making the little things seem so very special. Her impact on her family has resulted in a lifetime of rich, wonderful memories. All remember her spunk and excellent sense of humor, as well as her incredible pot roast and Christmas cookies! Her loving spirit will be forever present in the hearts of those she loved so dearly.

Agnes is survived by her three children, John Douglas Riva and his wife Nancy of Buckingham, Catherine Riva of Yardley, PA and Robert M. Riva of Ewing, NJ, and her two sisters, Catherine McEneney (husband Mike) of Bronx, NY, and Mary Herdman of Wilmington, Del. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Brent, Kaitlyn Manning (husband Drew), Eric, Matthew, Michael, and Christopher (wife Gabrielle). She is predeceased by her husband, John, and her sisters, Margie Walsh, Elizabeth Garofalo and Clare Esser.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Her interment will be held privately by the family at a later date in Harbourton Cemetery, Lambertville, NJ.
