Arthur "Art" Anthony Berodyn

Arthur Berodyn passed away in his sleep on August 18th, filled with the love of family and friends. He was and will always be the beloved husband of Nancy Berodyn and beloved father of Mei Li Berodyn. He is also dearly loved by his surviving family members: Veronica Dorry (sister) & Craig Kirby (brother-in-law), Mary Ellen Desmond (sister) & Michael Desmond (brother-in-law), James Burns III (brother-in-law) & Ligerie Burns (sister-in-law), Dana Pizer (sister-in-law) & Richard Pizer (brother-in-law), Susan Burns (sister-in-law), Joan Burns (sister-in-law) & Peter Allan (brother-in-law), Chelsea Freitas (niece) & Helder Freitas (nephew), James Burns IV (Godson and nephew) & Caitlin Burns (niece), James McGrath Ambrose (nephew), Gregory Pizer (nephew), Christopher Burns (nephew) & Shanaya Bhadha (niece), Cora Freitas (grandniece), Owen Freitas (grandnephew), Audrey Freitas (grandniece), Lucy Burns (grandniece), James Burns V (grandnephew), Kieran Burns (grandnephew).

Family and friends were always foremost and at the center of Art’s life. He saved the cards that read “Best Ever Dad”, “soul mate”, “forever love”, “Best Brother Ever”, and “best and dearest friend”. These words were well-earned every day. His devotion as a father to Mei Li and husband to Nancy was unparalleled. These were roles he cherished. Mei Li was his greatest source of pride.

Arthur will always be remembered for his love, kindness, compassion, and humor. He lit up a room with his endearing warmth, charisma, contagious laughter, and wonderful stories. (And quite the stories they were!) Hardly a day went by when Art didn’t make someone laugh, and he used humor to spread his joy. He found it in even the most mundane of things. Art made up words (“wanky”) and used old phrases out of the blue in hilarious ways (“Well, you know what they say: Jimmy crack corn...”). There was never a dull moment around Art.

Arthur was always looking for ways to help others and brighten someone’s day. Even the telemarketers who called at the worst of times were greeted cheerfully. The strength of his compassion and character never waned. Even at the end of his life, he worried about others rather than himself.

Professionally, Arthur was a successful salesperson in the medical and commercial industries, working for such companies as Xerox, National Health Laboratories, Commercial Investigation, and the W.B Saunders Publishing Company Medical Division. Along the way, he received promotions and accolades that included “#1 Periodical Salesperson on a National Basis”. He also proudly held the position of Director of KidSafe Record Checks, an investigatory program dedicated to protecting children from predators and ensuring their safety.

Arthur was an avid music lover who frequented performances in Asbury Park and New York for many years. He played the accordion and occasionally attended jam sessions where artists like Max Weinberg would appear. Although he had many favorite musicians, Bruce Springsteen was right up at the top. Countless “Glory Days” (Springsteen) come to mind when we think of Art. He was an extraordinary husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and human being. His wishes were that we remember him joyfully and build upon those “Glory Days” until we meet him again.
